LIVING SPANISH is a new course conceived as a non-intensive solution to your Spanish learning, designed with people’s needs in mind.

Maybe you haven’t studied for a while. So, with us, you work at a pace and in a way that give you lots of practice. Classes are communicative, interactive, relevant to your life, and very enjoyable. You develop your skills naturally and you find you can apply them right from the start.

You’ll be in a small group with a maximum of 8, or in one-to-one tutorials, with professional, trained, experienced teachers who provide all the attention, guidance and supervised practice that ensure your success.

Classes are held twice a week in an easily accessible location in west San José. Each module lasts 11 weeks and two modules make one complete level. We’ll give you a simple test at the beginning to make sure you’re starting where you should.

We accompany you through all the levels you feel like mastering - from beginner to advanced, you choose. Our regular programme consists of 4 levels.

Our School

Founded almost 30 years ago as the Instituto Britanico, the school specialises in English and Spanish as foreign languages: teaching students, offering evaluation through the examinations of the relevant world authority of each language, and training teachers.

In 2007 the school was affiliated to the well known worldwide organization of high quality language schools, International House, a prestigious network of over 150 institutions in more than 50 countries. A set of IH charters governs the shared values and commitment that benefit all who deal with its affiliates, and in this way a student of an IH school is guaranteed a high quality, effective, world class service.

Our Spanish Programme

The quality of our teaching is recognised internationally by the Instituto Cervantes, the world authority in the teaching and testing of Spanish as a foreign language, with our appointment to its worldwide ‘Centro Asociado’ network, the first in Costa Rica. This is a quality assurance and point of reference that students can rely on when faced with choosing a Spanish school in a foreign country.

In addition to LIVING SPANISH, we offer intensive courses in General Spanish for people on short visits and courses made to measure for professionals in the specific language of their work.

All our courses are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the universally acknowledged measure of language ability.

LIVING SPANISH

Classes are held in our premises in Centro Colon, close to the ARCR. Each class has a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 people. One-to-one tutorials are also available.

We offer a variety of timetables to suit all lifestyles. You attend 2 three-hour classes a week following your chosen timetable.

We work in modules of 11 weeks. Two modules comprise one complete level.

You will need a set of text books and CDs for each level. These can be bought in Reception when you enroll.

Fees: The usual price is $660 for 1 module and $1,254 for 2 modules in groups. There is an option of one-to-one tutorials, which cost $1,500 per module.

Discount for members of the ARCR: 10%

Books and CDs: $50 per level.

Forms of payment accepted are credit/debit card, bank transfer, traveller’s cheques and cash. Full payment of course fees and materials is due before starting the course.
