Assessment and certificates

Candidates are assessed continuously throughout the course in all its aspects. They are required to maintain a portfolio of the course, which must be submitted to the external assessor appointed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations Teaching Awards. Final grades are unanimously agreed by all the course tutors and the external assessor.

Successful candidates will receive a CELTA certificate with a grade (Pass A, Pass B or Pass C) about three months after the completion of the course; other candidates will receive a letter from University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations. IH Costa Rica Instituto Britanico provides every candidate with a CELTA report which can be used as a reference for work or for further training courses.
