Entry requirements

In line with the requirements of University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations Teaching Awards , all candidates must:

  • be at least 20 years old by the end of the course.
  • have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to undertake the course.
  • have the potential to successfully complete the written assignments of teaching practice and to develop the necessary skills to become effective teachers.

Application procedure

Interested candidates should contact IH Costa Rica Instituto Britanico to request an application pack. This includes a full version of the programme, details of a pre-interview task and an application form.

The pre-interview task is intended to stimulate candidates' thoughts about teaching, teachers, the course and language awareness. The task should be submitted with the application form and will be referred to in the interview.

All applications will receive a reply. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview; for candidates applying from outside Costa Rica this may be by telephone.

Candidates who are offered a place on a course and wish to accept need to confirm their acceptance and secure their place with a deposit of US$200.

All course fees must be paid in full no later than 4 weeks before the start of the course. Cancellation fees apply.
