Corporate Training Service The impact of the English language on Costa Rica grows stronger everyday, especially in the arenas of commerce and industry, government and NGOs. Dealing with foreigners here and in their own country; using English as a common language between non-native speakers; meeting associates, trainers, clients and suppliers face-to-face or communicating via the spectrum of modern media; reading manuals, contracts and websites; competing for new business; the need for English has never been greater. For many years we have been supplying contract courses to client organisations that have foreseen this trend and have invested in language training for key personnel. Our clients range from international and national banks to Costa Rican government institutions, from global information technology companies to scientists and public relations specialists. They came to Instituto Britanico because we offer a professional service tailored to their needs, a service that produces results and represents value for money. Solutions are customised. Courses of general English, which develop the four communicative skills in parallel, can be supplemented with specific functional skills as required. In this way the course can be designed to include, for example, the language of meetings, of negotiating, of import/export. The content of the course - and the length - are dictated by the client's needs. Groups of up to fifteen employees can be arranged, as can tutorials for senior managers. Classes can be held on our premises or on site, depending on the client's wishes. Students are welcome to participate in our Conversation Club programme of speaking practice and social activities. We begin by making a needs analysis to define the objectives of the course. The people who are going to study take a written and oral placement test to establish their levels. The course can then be designed with a view to content and focus and arrangements made regarding the length and frequency of the classes, the length of the course and the place where it is to be given. Prices vary according to the size of the class and, in the case of on-site classes, the distance to be travelled. There are additional charges for registration and textbooks.
